I live in Fulham London and used to pass Rory on the Fulham Road most Sunday evenings on my way to Church.
Coincidentally I bumped into him one Sunday evening in the Hollywood Arms a pub just off the Fulham Road.
He always sat in the corner drinking Guinness by himself.
I took courage to have a word and he was more than happy to discuss the guitar and guitarists.
I mentioned I played with my said I should also try playing with a pick.
We laughed about Frank Marino who at one time thought he was Jimmy Hendrix but both of us agreed he is brilliant.Funny some so called guitar magazines have never heard of Frank but Rory knew all about him and his tracks such as All Along The Watchtower and Norwegian Wood.
We discussed tone and agreed Eric Clapton has a super tone and whilst Eric Buchanan was a decent guitarist the tone was not to our liking. We both agreed Paco De Lucia was gifted
He also liked Bob Dylan and admired my Yamaha FG170 acoustic;better than some old Martins he said.
Such a gentle guy and lived up to everything you thought about him.
Sad the way it ended but Rory's genius will mean the importance and beauty of lead guitarist will never die.

Bonjour JG,

Hello,

I have definitely stolen Pipes and PT first question they use when they do interviews. I even sent them an audio feedback about that a couple of month ago. We also exchanged some mails.

I am a BIG fan of Six String Bliss. We will never have too many guitar podcasts!!!

Glad you like the show, thanks for your comment.
